The decision to replace three existing police vehicle is partly due to the wear and tear on and two patrol cars SUV, but also partly due to the patrol car model Hillsborough Township have will no longer be used for police vehicles.
The Committee approved a resolution at a meeting of the city Tuesday.
“One of the reasons to go ahead with the purchase of (vehicle) is that the Crown Victoria is closed,” said Frank DelCore Committeeman. “They are no longer going to police vehicles. Many of our fleet is made up of the Crown Victoria so it makes sense to be able to add to the fleet because we already have all the equipment and the way everything is set for the vehicle.
“Ahead of next year, we will have to go back a way to deal with vehicles on an ongoing basis,” he added. “But for now, those two Crown Victoria, it makes sense to buy because we know that the price will be higher material.”
Resolutions authorize the $57, 412.90 for two Ford Crown Victoria and $44, 024.60 to a Ford F350 pickup truck. Police vehicle 606, 607 and 615 slated for retirement, according to the resolution.
